Charlie Baty has left us, the former guitar player of Charlie & The Nightcats. Charlie had been semi-retired from the band since 2008, he only performed with them a few concerts a year, and at some specific meeting, that’s why the band since 2008 changed its name and is called Rick Estrin & The Nighcats, Rick is the other founding member of the band, he takes care of the voice and the harmonica and instead of Charlie the Nightcats have incorporated the magnificent guitar player Chris «Kid» Andersen.
My first contact with Charlie and his Nightcaps was through his first lp, the 1987 album “All the Way Crazy”, a magnificent album that made me follow this band and its components until today. I was able to seen him live only once, he left me stoned, one of the best blues guitar players I’ve ever seen on stage, although Charlie’s guitar printed more than blues, there was always a place for songs with touches of Swing, Rock & Roll and Rockabilly on his records and even surf.
Thanks for all the Good times listening to your albums. RIP
